Mentorship: What is the Value for Mentors and Mentees?
are students or high-potential young professionals with less than 10 years of
professional experience who are selected for our programs through a careful
screening process. They have a clear understanding of their motivations for
wanting to be mentored and are open to a wide range of subjects such as
nontraditional fields and organizations. Our mentees value the structured character
of a mentor-mentee relationship and appreciate the framework of a powerful
mentoring relationship. Mentees will benefit from mentoring and the skills
employed to created productive and effective mentoring relationships.
- Mentors are managers with 6+ years of experience and include
accomplished senior financial executives, CEOs, entrepreneurs and professional
services providers. They have a clear understanding of mentorship, have great
motivation to be a mentor, are realistic in their assessment of mentees’ skills
and leadership experience, are open to mentoring individuals outside their own
discipline, and can commit to the time required for the program.
The Mentorship Program
Each session is hosted by a mentor at their place of work or personal residence. Over a 6-month period, mentees and mentors meet together for 6 group meetings, each lasting 2-3 hours. In addition, individual Mentor-Mentee meetings will be held at least once a month for skills and application training.
Following the program, mentees will have learned new skills to
help them in developing long-term, productive mentoring relationships to help
guide their careers. Mentors will have provided guidance and invaluable
assistance to young professionals looking for help with their careers.
Reverse Mentoring Through Ascend
Outside of our formal Mentoring Programs, Ascend works to ensure mentoring success at all levels of careers.
