May Edition
Dear Ascend Members and Supporters,

It’s Asian Heritage Month and I hope you are all celebrating diversity, inclusion and achievement! I am very proud of our Ascend family and our chapters who have been very active in organizing and expanding our local/regional offerings, including the Inspiring Across Generations (IAG) conferences. I hope that all of you have been getting involved! The NY Metro chapter just hosted their wonderful IAG at Microsoft in New York City and next up we have New Jersey, Houston, Los Angeles and Midwest. I’m looking forward to hearing what great success stories these conferences will be! We are also seeing momentum rise as we get closer to the National Convention at Disneyland on July 30th. Make sure you book your room and travel if you haven’t already – I’m so excited to see you all on the west coast!

Below are some other key updates for May.

Warmest Regards,

Jeff Chin
President, Ascend

Ascend Midwest: Cyber Security Professional Panel Event hosted by KPMG

Whether it be FORTUNE 500 organizations or an individual consumer, the threat of cyber-attacks is an overarching worry that faces us all. Ascend Midwest recently organized a successful Cybersecurity panel discussion event with over 50 participants hosted by KPMG, Chicago. Edward L. Goings (KPMG), Paul Edlund (Microsoft), Dan Wierzbicki (FBI) and Sean Renshaw (Stout Risius Ross, Inc) were the panelists for the event. They emphasized the importance of protecting our networks. “Simple things as checking our bank or credit card accounts, and always be cautious before clicking any links in e-mail are also recommended to protect our information,” said Forensic Technology Services, national principal in charge, Ed Goings.
