May Edition
Dear Ascend Members and Supporters,
May is Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. As we celebrate Asian culture, history, and community, I can't help but to reflect on Ascend and its mission, which we set out in 2005 and is still alive and benefiting our community today. In light of the recent earthquake that has affected lives across Nepal, I wanted to reach out and wish the best to all those who may have been affected. Tragedies like these should bring communities together, so I hope we as a community can come together to help this country and all those affected. Any donation would be much appreciated. 100% of the raised funds will go directly to the Nepal Earthquake relief operation of We currently raised $5,834 and are getting closer to reaching our goal of $10,000! Many thanks to those who have contributed. For those who have yet to donate and wish to do so, please click here.

Let's show the world how strong the Ascend community is.

Warmest Regards,

Jeff Chin
President, Ascend

Hidden in Plain Sight: Asian American Leaders in Silicon Valley
On Wednesday, May 6, Ascend Foundation made national headlines. Ascend Foundation released our research study, Hidden in Plain Sight: Asian American Leaders in Silicon Valley, which analyzes the leadership pipeline using employment data filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) by five major Silicon Valley-based companies. It reveals some surprising results including that the glass ceiling is 3.7x times harder for Asian Americans to crack. We’ve received national and regional television, online and print media coverage from NBC News, L.A. Times, Fast Company, AP and SoCal Public Radio to name a few.
