Volunteer at the 2019 Ascend National Convention & Career Fair

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Ascend National Convention & Career Fair.

Why Volunteer?

Ascend prides itself on offering volunteers the opportunity to network, receive quality education, and interact with mentors and seasoned executives throughout the convention. Peer-to-peer contact and working together as a team allows you to develop your communication, business and leadership skills.

Volunteer Roles

Convention volunteers play a big part in the success and coordination of the event. Volunteers will have the following roles:

  • Prep and Setup: Help assemble convention bags, assist with setting up signage and other prep duties.
  • Registration: Greet attendees, process badges, hand out convention programs, hand out convention bags, answer questions.
  • Invite Only Session Check In: Manage access to invitation only events by checking in guests and politely declining those that may not enter.
  • Greeters/Wayfinders: Serve as a source of information for convention attendees and assist with directing guests from room to room between sessions.
  • Session Monitors: Welcome guests, take headcounts, provide timing cues, assist with Q&A.
  • Ushers: Guide attendees to take seats so plenaries and meal functions can begin on time. Help those with reserved seats find them.
  • CPE Scanners: For CPE eligible sessions, scan attendees badges on their way in and out of the session so they can receive credit.
  • Resume Coaching Line Management: Manage the lines; Help coaches keep track of time with each participant.
  • Interview Booth Management: Assist recruiters in finding available Interview Booths.
  • Concierge/Customer Service: Provide VIP-level service to speakers and press alongside professional convention management staff.

How long is a volunteer shift?

A typical volunteer shift is 5.5 hours. As a volunteer, you can choose to complete one shift or multiple shifts throughout the convention. We will work with you to determine the best shifts based on your availability.

What are the volunteer perks?

  • Opportunity to attend other sessions on the day of your volunteer shift for free (with the exception of “invitation only” sessions, sponsored luncheons, and the Awards Dinner). Daily pass purchase required to be eligible for refund. Please email ePlanner@ascendleadership.org to register.
  • Opportunity to receive a 50% refund on registration after working at least (2) shifts
