March 2019 Edition
Dear Ascend Members and Supporters,

First off, we want to thank our Ascend family, our chapters, executive advisers and the national team who have been spearheading our upcoming events and expanding our national and local/regional offerings.

We are looking forward to our Ascend Pinnacle Asian Corporate Directors Summit taking place this weekend in Westchester, NY. The goal of the Summit is to provide a platform to share, educate, increase the dialogue and facilitate trusted conversations around strategic boardroom issues. This year’s theme “Building on the Best” speaks to the focus on building the pipeline of future leaders as we look to increase Pan-Asians on corporate boards.

In other exciting news, in a joint effort between the Stanford Graduate School of Business and Ascend, the Asian American Executive Program was created to accelerate the development of global business leadership skills of executives and senior professionals. Asian American executives who are interested in advancing their leadership in business are highly encouraged to apply to this program (more information below) and stay tuned for additional details about the up and coming scholarship opportunity.

We also want to highlight the 3rd Annual Ascend Charity Golf Outing held at the Manhattan Woods Golf Club on June 4, 2019! The Golf Outing is held to raise funds in order to advance Ascend Foundation's mission of advocacy, thought leadership, education and scholarships. Along with golfing, this event is a great opportunity to network and build relationships.

"I was the only Asian in kindergarten when I grew up in Sydney. When I started my first job at EY in Michigan, I was again the only Asian within the 2007 summer intern class. However, I never felt very uncomfortable but I did wish there were more of us. After coming to New York City, I feel like I discovered a whole new world. Joining Ascend is definitely remarkable and I felt empowered and inspired by the leaders and friends within the organization. I left New York for four years but when I came back in 2016, my first thought is to reconnect with Ascend. I got the pleasure to help organize the Annual Charity Golf Outing three years in a row with inspiring Pan-Asian leaders, sponsors and volunteers. I am grateful for those who believed in me and I strive to do the same and hope to inspire other Pan-Asians in my everyday life."
