Ascend stands in solidarity against racism and violence. With the recent tragic events and acts of bias and violence against our Black communities, it has continued to remind us of the racism, institutional bias, and prejudice that is still prevalent in Canada.

The Ascend Canada (Toronto and Vancouver) Chapters are hosting one of a multi-part series to discuss this critical topic. We intend to create a safe space to discuss race relations and inequalities that impact us and the workplace and brainstorm the role that we and our organizations can play to Promote Inclusion, Raise Awareness, Denounce Bias, Support Communities and Give Donations.

We have the pleasure to invite a guest speaker: Stephen Haynes. Stephen is currently Vice President Ontario Field Sales, Rogers for Business and is responsible for a Territory Field Sales Team that covers the Ontario Mid-Market sector. Stephen’s team provides business solutions for Small and Medium sized businesses which include Fibre based Fixed Networks, Data Centre Solutions, IoT (Internet of Things) and Voice Collaboration solutions. Stephen is a member of the Inclusion & Diversity Council at Rogers and is the Chair of the Rogers Mosaic Inclusion & Diversity team.

Stephen has been in the Telecommunications industry for the past 30 years. He previously held positions, within the Rogers Group of Companies, in Wireless, Cable and Rogers Business Solutions (RBS), which carried responsibility for Sales, Business Development, Service Delivery, Service Assurance, Customer Service, Project Management, Operational Excellence, Training, Technical Support and Accounts Receivable. Stephen has worked with Sprint Canada in the business division and was a co- founder of Multi-Channel Communications Inc. (MCCI), a contact centre organization that provided inbound sales, customer service and technical support for large U.S. telecommunications organizations. Stephen is a Board member of TRIEC (Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council) and was a previous Volunteer Cabinet member of the United Way Peel Region. Stephen is also a classically trained Double Bass Player who plays with numerous ensembles in and around the GTA.
