This month a number of our chapters hosted their annual Inspiring Across Generations (IAG) Conferences: NorCal, Greater Washington, New England, Greater Philadelphia, Greater Atlanta and North Texas. I'm so proud of all the chapter activity! See below more details on the IAGs. There are also exciting events being planned for 2018 including the 2018 National Convention in San Francisco, the second Pinnacle Summit and the second Ascend Charity Golf Outing.

SAVE THE DATE! 2018 Ascend National Convention

Buzz is already building for our 2018 Ascend National Convention that will be held in the tech capital of the world, San Francisco on August 20-22, 2018 (Monday to Wednesday). For sponsors, sign up by November 30th to lock in 2017 prices!

  Save the Date for 2018 Ascend Pinnacle Summit!

We are thrilled to announce Ascend Pinnacle's second Asian Corporate Directors Summit! The 2018 Summit will be held April 6-7, 2018 - again at the Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley in Palo Alto, CA. This invitation-only event is geared to be another home run and planning is already underway! Invitations to Board Directors will be sent later this year, but if you are familiar with Pinnacle and would like to introduce us to new Asian American Board Directors, please email summit@ascendleadership.org.

 

Save the Date! 2018 Ascend Charity Golf Outing

We're excited to announce that the 2018 Ascend Charity Golf Outing will be held on June 5, 2018 at Manhattan Woods Golf Club. The event was conceived to raise funds for the Ascend Foundation to further the Foundation’s mission of advocacy, thought leadership, education and scholarships.

Apex for Youth Inaugural Summit at Google NY HQ

Apex for Youth Inaugural Summit was held at Google’s New York Headquarters on October 17th. Speakers included our very own Wes Hom, Lisa Lee, VP of Audit at Alphabet/Google, Chieh Huang, the CEO and Co-Founder of Boxed, and actor and comedian Ronny Chieng. The speakers talked about their paths and stories, how they have taken risks, and shared insights on authentic leadership and community impact.

Ascend Canada develops skills and networks for tomorrow’s leaders

On Oct 12, 2017, more than 400 people attended the Fall Conference, one of Ascend Canada's annual marquee events. This year’s conference featured a full day of learning and professional development with a strong focus on innovation. Technology, competition and new models of thinking and working are some of the changes that workplaces face these days. Conference speakers, including Roy Gori, Manulife’s new president and chief executive officer, covered topics such as diversity of thought in the workplace, entrepreneurship, customer-focused thinking, and recruiting talented employees. Kelvin Tran, President and Chairman of Ascend Canada, challenged attendees to make deliberate efforts to put any learnings from these events into action. And tell a friend!

  Lighting the Future – the Greater Washington Chapter 6th IAG

On November 4th, the Ascend Greater Washington chapter hosted nearly 250 professionals and students for the 6th Annual IAG conference “Lighting the Future” at Crystal City Marriott in Arlington, VA. With generous support of corporate sponsors, passionate volunteers and community partners, this year’s IAG was another huge success! The keynote speakers and session facilitators covered a wide range of topics from leadership development to brand management to relationship building to purpose and influence. The participants, including over 30% first-time attendants, shared their appreciation for the impactful topics and high caliber speakers. The future lights up brightly for GW chapter!   Ascend New England Chapter Inspires Leaders to Level Up

On November 4, nearly 250 participants, speakers, and volunteers attended the 2nd Annual Inspiring Across Generations Conference at State Street Bank's Quincy office location. The event kicked off with a fireside chat with a successful tech entrepreneur and angel investor, Wayne Chang and then moved into four workshops that explored different attributes of being a Next Level Leader. The conference concluded with three inspiring Leadership Talks delivered by Ian So, Sheetal Acharya, and Robert Thomas. Participants took away many insights on how to level up their leadership skills in this decade of disruption.
 

Greater Philadelphia has its Inspiring Across generations (IAG): Knife's Edge

The Ascend Greater Philadelphia Chapter was proud to present this year's IAG event, Knife’s Edge: Taking Risks for Success, at the grand Pyramid Club.  Featuring the witty wisdom of keynote speaker Rear Admiral Jonathan A. Yuen and the inspiring stories of various panelist speakers, the night provided nuggets of valuable insight to equip the packed room of guests in their risk-taking ventures. With the help of generous sponsors and the Pan-Asian business community, the Chapter was thrilled to host yet another successful conference inciting over 150 guests to embrace the unknown and take on challenges—overcoming “knife’s edge” cliffs today to moving mountains tomorrow!

 

LinkedIn Keynote and Inspiring Panelists Kickoff Final 2017 NorCal IAG

The third and final 2017 conference of Ascend NorCal’s IAG series concluded with over 160 guests comprising of early to mid-career professionals on November 3rd at Charles Schwab’s San Francisco office. Keynote speaker Sandy Hoffman, Director of Global Inclusion, Linkedin kicked off the session with her discussion on trend forecasting in the career space and her personal journey to successful leadership. Other highlights included a panel discussion with executives from Bay Area-based global companies, a mentoring break-out session as well as an interactive communication workshop all structured to accelerate the support and development of NorCal Pan-Asian emerging leaders.
