Thuy Vu - Journalist/Program Host
Thuy is a three-time Emmy Awards Winning journalist, anchor and program host who has covered everything from presidential debates to culinary creations. Thuy holds a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in rhetoric from UC Berkeley.Currently, Thuy is the interim host of LinkAsia, a weekly show that weaves news from Asia’s top television networks and conversations on Asia’s social media into a unique look at one of the most fast-paced regions of the globe. She also teaches broadcast communications at Academy of Art University in San Francisco.Thuy was a co-host of CBS5’s Eye on the Bay, the only nightly magazine program celebrating life in the Bay Area—from its diverse personalities and businesses to the wonderful destinations and restaurants. Thuy is a Board Director of the Asian Pacific Fund, a community foundation that provides scholarships to students and grants for Asian non-profits in the Bay Area. Thuy’s commitment to excellence has earned many honors: In 2012 her special series on the devastating legacy of Agent Orange sprayed during the Vietnam War won nine regional and national awards, including a prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award. In 2010, Thuy was named Outstanding Reporter/Correspondent by the national Alliance for Women in Media. Other honorees that year included The Evening News with Katie Couric, Barbara Walters and NBC’s Andrea Mitchell.
Kailesh Karavadra - Managing Partner, E&Y
Kailesh Karavadra is the San Jose Office Managing Partner for Ernst & Young. Born in Uganda and raised in India and England, Kailesh started his career in the United Kingdom as a Chartered Accountant before relocating to Ernst & Young’s San Jose office in 1995. He has served some of the firm’s largest global clients in areas ranging from advising on business strategy to consulting on system security risks and business process controls. "His global vision and his broad experience are a perfect match for Silicon Valley’s dynamic environment,” said Kay Matthews, Ernst & Young’s Vice Chair and West Area Managing Partner.
