NY Metro Ascend:
Opportunity Knocks: Demystifying the Wealth Management Professional
On
June 20, 2012, Ascend NY Metro and Bank of New York Mellon Wealth Management
hosted an exciting seminar on various roles available within a Wealth
Management career. The seminar was held at the Bank of New York Mellon office.
There was a panel discussion moderated by Christine Park, Senior Director of
Portfolio Management. The panelists were:
Yani
Lee, Senior Portfolio Officer
Peter
Angelica, Senior Private Banker
Edward
Pennfield, Senior Director
Thomas
Lee, Investment Research Analyst
Terrence
Yanni, Senior Director of Sales
Some
of the key takeaway points include focusing on long term investment in your
career and realizing that one’s career path is not necessarily a straight line.
Additionally,
the panelists discussed some skills necessary for a career in wealth
management. These skills include effective presentation skills, strong writing,
speaking and listening skills. As wealth management is a client serving industry,
attention to detail and being aware of others’ needs are essential for a
successful career.
The
seminar was followed by a networking session in which the attendees had
opportunities to further connect with each other and the panelists. A
thank you to Jin Qiu for the great pictures!
