Metro New York - Asia's Emerging Markets: How the giants in Asia will influence the U.S. and global finance
The Ascend Metro New York Chapter hosted " Asia's Emerging Markets: How the giants in Asia will influence the U.S. and global finance,” sponsored by Moody's Multicultural Employee Resource Group on Thursday, February 9th, 2012.
The seminar highlighted the role of the Asia-Pacific region in global re-balancing moderated by Brian Oak - Managing Director, Corporate Finance Group for Moody's. The panelists included Alice Young – Partner, Chair Asia Pacific Group for Kaye Scholer LLP International Law Firm, Atsi Sheth – Vice President, Senior Analyst, Sovereign Risk Group for Moody's, Puneet Arora – Partner, International Tax Group for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Steven Hess – Vice President, Senior Credit Officer, Sovereign Risk Group for Moody's.
The seminar included topics such as: the differences in legal framework for investment in the Asia pacific region compare with other regions, what does China's and India's growth mean for Asia and the world, Chinese investment in U.S. Treasury bonds: A vulnerability for U.S. government finance, can India catch up to and counterbalance China as a dominant economic power as well as the implications of Asia's accelerating capital inflows and outflows on the regional as well as the global economy.
