Ascend Lead Series
The Ascend National Lead Series, held on July 27, 2011, hosted by Bank of America left attendees feeling motivated and enthusiastic. While participants recognize their limitations in networking skills, they readily embraced the fact and began practicing and improving themselves as they had stayed hours past the event to continue networking with other professionals and mentors.
Wanda Royse, the moderator, fueled the energy in the room. From thought provoking questions to insightful commentaries, she got everyone to actively participate in the group discussions among mentors, panelists, and young professionals.
The panelists were equally motivational. Nauman Sheikh, approached networking like a job – the more effort one exerts, the better the results. Through personal experience, he claimed that networking helps one in unexpected ways. The bigger network one has, the more likely one will see its benefits. Paul Critchlow, another panelist, approached networking like building friendships. He enjoys meeting people and developing relationships. Regardless of different networking approaches, all panelists agreed that networking skill was vital in their professional development.
In the end, it was inspiring to see many participants so motivated and were ready to take the initiative to improve their network skills.
