06/30 - Cargill 2010 Scholarship Applications Due: Apply Now
The Ascend-Cargill Scholarship will underwrite two (2) $2,000 scholarships for rising juniors college undergraduates studying finance, accounting or business related studies.
Be an ACTIVE Ascend student member, whose membership dues have been received by Ascend’s National Office no later than April 1st. Dues of $25.00 for undergraduate or graduate students must be received by this date. Special Note: Regardless of the circumstances, once becoming a professional member, you are not permitted to return to student status.
Be currently enrolled at a four-year United States college or university as a full-time (12 semester hours or equivalent), undergraduate rising junior studying accountancy, taxation or finance program by the Fall 2009 semester.
Meet the minimum grade point average (GPA) requirement of 3.0.
Be involved in the community where you made a difference.
Is a US citizen or green card holder.
Please submit the following:
A completed National Scholarship Application. Please type or clearly print your responses, including "N/A" for items that are not applicable to you. The application MUST be completed in its entirety, submitted with the items listed below, and is accepted ONLY from January 30 - May 29 (postmark deadline). Click here for the application.
An unofficial current Academic Transcript (through the fall 2009 semester) from your University’s registrar.
A Current Resume.
Two (2) Letters of Recommendation from a college professor, an official or an advisor.
A Personal Essay of a minimum of 500 words . Your personal essay should include:
how you have demonstrated leadership in your academic studies, professional career, and/or extracurricular activities and why you believe these qualities are important;
your career goals upon graduation;
how being a student member of Ascend has helped you in the achievement of your academics and career goals
why you should be considered for the scholarship.
Awards are made for the following academic year. Awards will be announced on July 1, 2010. Scholarship disbursements will be made prior to each academic semester (fall 2010). Awards will be sent either to the student or directly to the school—based on the recipient’s preference.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have enough time (usually three to four weeks) to get the required items to you or to Ascend. We can only accept original documents. Faxed materials will not be accepted. Ascend is not responsible for items lost or improperly handled by the mail carrier services. We recommend having the scholarship package sent by certified mail.
