June 1, 2010 - Are you searching for
that coveted first job?
Many recent graduates are in this position and a recent article in the May
2010 issue of Diversity Inc. magazine highlights some of the do's and don'ts in
job searching. Aaron Fung, Ascend's Director of Strategic Initiatives, was
interviewed earlier this year and speaks about the value of perspective and the
importance of your personal and school networks.
"Look at a connection as an opportunity to build relationships. I’ve always
been a believer that business is predicated on comfort, which comes from trust.
And trust you can only earn through similarity...,the ability to relate to
someone else, and the belief that someone is genuine. I think that’s an
important feature to articulate because a mutual connection to a school is
incredibly valuable," Fung said.
Ascend provides programs to help pan-Asian professionals develop connections
throughout our 33 national chapters. For more information on those events,
