Ascend is proud to continue a long standing tradition of honoring scholastic excellence and contribution to the community through our Scholarship Program. All students must adhere to both Ascend requirements and the company's requirements in order to be considered for a scholarship. Winners are awarded a complimentary 3-day pass* (does not include Gala Dinner) to the convention and are required to attend the Ernst and Young Scholarship Luncheon in Anaheim, California on Sunday, August 25, 2013.

Ascend Requirements
-Personal essay (minimum of 500 words for all 3 combined) describing:

  • How have you demonstrated leadership and teamwork in your academic studies, professional career, and/or extracurricular activities, community volunteer work and why do you believe these qualities are important to transforming yourself into a better leader?
  • What are your career goals upon graduation?
  • How has Ascend played a role in the achievement of your academic and career goals?
-An active (in our database) student Ascend member as of May 28, 2013
-Commit to attending the Ernst and Young Scholarship Luncheon on Sunday, August 25th at the 2013 Ascend National Convention in Anaheim, CA at the Disneyland® Hotel

AICPA: 1 Scholarship - $5,000 plus travel and lodging for the 2013 Ascend National Convention

-Applied to or been accepted into a public or private, 501(c) four-year college or university located in the U.S. states or territories
-Maintained an overall and major GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
-Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate-level degree in an "accounting-related” major. ("Accounting-related” shall be as determined by Sponsor in Sponsor’s sole discretion.)
-Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate (12 semester hours or equivalent) or a full-time graduate level student (9 semester hours or equivalent) for the 2013-14 academic year. (Note: an exception may be granted if you plan to participate in an internship.)
-A U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder)
-"An underrepresented minority in the accounting profession (e.g., Black or African American; Hispanic or Latino; Native American; or Asian American)
-Planning to pursue a CPA license but not presently a CPA
-Completed at least 30 semester hours (or equivalent) of college coursework, including at least 6 semester hours (or equivalent) in accounting, by end of spring 2013
-The business program must be accredited by the AACSB and/or ACBSP
-An AICPA student affiliate member (or have submitted a new member application). Apply online at no cost: student-membership
-Some financial need (i.e., not receiving a full or partial scholarship(s) and/or grant(s) that cover and/or exceed one’s educational expenses)

Robert Half International

Robert Half International: 2 Scholarships - each $2,500

-Overall/Cumulative GPA : 3.5
-Major: Accounting/Finance
-Must be a current/full-time student
-Undergraduate student
-Rising Junior/ Rising Senior

Ernst & Young

Ernst & Young: 5 Scholarships - each $5,000

-Rising Sophomore/Rising Junior (completed freshmen or sophomore year)
-Majoring in Accounting
-GPA of 3.3 or higher
-Demonstrated Leadership Skills


PwC: 3 Scholarships - each $1,000

-Cumulative GPA: 3.5
-majoring in accounting at an accredited institution of higher learning
-must be current undergraduate student
-Currently (Spring 2013) a Freshman, Sophomore or Junior (if in a 5 year program)
-Authorized to work in the US without employer sponsorship in the future
-Be willing to interview for a PwC internship
-Not have had previous work experience with other Big 4 accounting firms
-Complete a PwC Talent Profile at


Cargill: 1 Scholarship - $1,000

-Cumulative GPA: 3.0
-Accounting, taxation or finance program
-Enrolled at a 4-year US college or university FT (12 semester hrs or equivalent)
-Rising Junior (Junior in Fall 2013)
-US Citizen or Green Card
-Be willing to interview for a Cargill internship
