Ascend Executive Insight Series (EIS)

"Selling & Client Relationship” Module

Date: March 9th, 2013, Saturday

Time: 1 PM-5 PM (lunch will be provided at 12:45pm)

CPE credits offered, Cost $250/person

The EIS modules were created to assist high potential Pan –Asian managers and young executives to attain and assume leadership roles in major U.S. corporations. Over the years Ascend has gained significant insight into what works and the specific behaviors, competencies and experiences required at the executive level. Participants typically have 7 -15 years of experience, at the manager, senior manager, or professional level.

Consisting of five different EIS modules to choose from, we will be showcasing "Selling and Client Relationships” module at this event with a focus on Asian American leadership skill set.  Developing sales skills is crucial for business success and personal growth, no matter what profession you are in. In this module, you will gain professional insight on how to:

  • Appreciate why the selling & client relationship are fundamental to all professionals at all levels both internally and externally
  • Learn what critical selling skills and behaviors are needed to be successful in all professions
  • Learn the steps needed to become a trusted advisor so you can be more viable in the eyes of your management team, clients, and customers

EIS provides participants with a leadership framework that empowers them to explore how to change their own attitudes about leadership and business value. This event consists of 4 hours of interactions and experiential learnings, led by Wes Hom and Janet Wong.

Wes Hom is an Ascend National Board Member and Managing Director. He is a former IBM Vice President and currently serves also as Principal at Business Innovation Services, LLC. As an Ascend officer, Wes advises on business development, diversity, and leadership development for Ascend’s global sponsors and respective organizations.  He was recognized as one of the "2007 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business” by the Asian American Business Development Center and received Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) 2008 Dynamic Achievers Award. He is co-developer of Stanford University's Graduate School of Business Asian Leadership Program.  

Janet Wong is a Retired Partner with KPMG LLP.  She is a Certified Public Accountant with 30 years of experience in public accounting, serving Fortune 500 companies and emerging market companies in various industries. Currently, she serves as Vice-Chair of Louisiana Tech University’s College of Business Advisory Board.  In 2011, she received the Ascend Inspirational Leadership Award.  She has also been honored as Louisiana Tech’s College of Business Alumni of the Year and with the San Jose/Silicon Valley Business Journal Women of Distinction Award.
