Everyone a Leader

Dear Ascend Members,

Please join us at the "Everyone a Leader” - Ascend New York 2010 Leadership Conference to gain insight on how to become a positive and effective leader.Our special guest speaker, PJ Kim, is a young leader with a strong message: "anyonewith the right cause and the right skills can become an effective leader.” PJ will discuss his leadership experiences as a student, a professional, and a public servant and answer questions like, "What is leadership?” and "What are some of the challenges of becoming and being a leader?” We will also break out into fun games and activities to practice important leadership skills.

Speaker Bio

PJ Kim is a former Democratic candidate for New York City to represent District 1, Lower Manhattan.Although he was ultimately unsuccessful, he waged a spirited campaign that earned the endorsement of the New York Times, The Daily News, the New York Press, and thousands of voters and supporters from all ethnicities throughout New York City.He was previously an independent consultant to anti-poverty initiatives, including serving as a Senior Advisor Single Stop USA (SSUSA), where he was Vice President for Programs and part of the start-up team.He also ran the largest free tax preparation campaign in the US for low income workers.He received both his MBA and Master’s of Public Administration at Harvard Business School and the Kennedy School of Government and his undergraduate degree from Princeton, where he was President of the Student Government and an Alumni Trustee.He is a first generation immigrant.
