On August 17-19, 2008, Ascend held our inaugural National Convention in New York City at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. We had 1,200 registered attendees and the convention served as a wonderful opportunity to help our members work towards their professional goals. It provided a forum for networking, development and training. Participants had an opportunity to attend leadership development sessions, learn from business leaders, be mentors and mentees and meet companies at the career fair. There were hosted company gatherings, meeting of new friends, networking with leaders from Ascend and our corporate partners, and to get the full flavor of our organization. A highlight of the National Convention was the Closing Gala that provided a festive opportunity for guests and sponsors to enjoy a wonderful evening of networking and celebration. We honored individuals and companies that shared a common commitment to our mission.
