Volunteer Income Tax Assistance event on March 2nd 2010!
Ascend is proud to support KPMG and LadderUp and would like to invite you to volunteer at the 2010 Tax Assistance Program for low income group families.
A penny saved is a penny earned. This adage is truer in tough economic times.
Come and be a part of the efforts that helped generate over 15.5 million dollars in economic impact to over 9000 Chicagoland families in 2009. Organized by Ladder Up, a non-for-profit organization, this event helps low income groups to prepare and file their tax returns taking advantage of legitimate tax credits available to their income group.
Over 16,000 volunteers have provided their services since 1994 and Ladder Up programs have helped 100,000 families to rise above the poverty line with 197 million dollars in tax refunds. Starting 2010, LadderUp has set a goal of helping low income groups and students generate 1 billion dollars in economic impact over a 15 year period. This is only possible with your committed efforts.
Ascend is proud to support KPMG and LadderUp in once again making an impact in the Chicagoland community. Many low income groups look forward to your efforts and expertise to help them minimize their tax burden. There are many roles to play as a volunteer – Tax preparer, Greeter/screener, Translator, Tech Support etc.
This unique volunteering event will require completing the Ladder Up training, registering as a volunteer on Ladder Up’s website at http://goladderup.org/, and volunteering your time to help those in need at Roberto Clemente High School located in Chicago on Western and Division from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on March 5, 2010.
KPMG LLP will be organizing a training event on Feb 5th 2010 from 3pm to 5pm at their Chicago offices on 303 East Wacker Drive. To sign up please RSVP: Subash Sitaraman or Hiroko Fukui on or before January 25th 2010.
