Wes was former IBM Vice President in the Systems and Technology Group with global responsibilities for
overall execution of IBM's mainframe investments, strategies, sales and emerging markets initiatives.
Today, Wes is an officer and Ascend board member, Wes advises on business development, diversity, and
leadership development for Ascend’s global sponsors and respective organizations. Today he is managing
the Ascend national organization. He is also principal at Business Innovation Services, LLC. helping investors
and companies develop global strategies and plans to access next generation technologies and new business
models.
Previously Wes was based in Europe as Managing Director and IBM Vice President in the Industrial Sector.
He held a variety of challenging positions at IBM, including Vice President of Global Communications
Sector, Vice President of the Capital Venture Group, and Executive Director for alliances between IBM and
independent software vendors. Wes also spent several years in Asia Pacific as Vice President for the
Advance Technology Solutions and Vice President of Networking hardware and software businesses.
Before going overseas, Wes went to Armonk, NY as an Executive Assistant in IBM’s corporate office
serving the Chairman, Vice Chairman, CFO and Sr. VP of Human resources.
Wes also chaired IBM’s Asian Diversity group, where he was recognized as the "conscious & guardian” to
the Asian community throughout IBM. Wes served on the boards of many professional and community
organizations such as the Business Advisory Council of Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) and
International venture capital firms. He was recognized as one of the "2007 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans
in Business” by the Asian American Business Development Center and received Organization Of Chinese
Americans (OCA) 2008 Dynamic Achievers Award. Wes is also the co founder of Corporate Executive
Initiative and Co developer of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business Asian Leadership Program.
Wes is a graduate of NYU’s Stern School of Business with BS/CS and MBA degrees. He was a member of
IBM’s Certified Client Director Profession through Advance Management Program at Harvard Business
School.

Tifanny Papish

| | | Tifanny has over ten years of professional experience in various industries and varying functions, mostly in the corporate setting. She has worked for companies such as IBM, Intel, Cisco, KGB Infonxx, Barneys New York and has managed large teams of up to 1,000 employees in the global setting. She also has extensive experience in managing cross-functional and global teams. At Ascend, Tifanny utilizes her corporate experience, business education and consulting background in developing the building blocks of the organization's strategy & operations. She also works closely with the chapters, invite-only CEI group, MBA Alliances, and plays a pivotal role in maintaining client and partner relationships, as well as planning national events and developing new strategic initiatives. Tifanny obtained her MBA from the University of Rochester, Simon Graduate School of Business as a full-ride Simon Fellow scholarship recipient. At Simon, Tifanny was Co-President of the Consulting, Operations & Technology Association, as well as the VP-Finance of the Pricing Club. She also enjoys traveling and learning about other cultures and speaks five different languages. | |

Cathy Hom graduated from NYU in 2011, with a BS in Hotel and Tourism Management.
As the conference & office coordinator for Ascend, she is responsible for logistics of the Executive Insight Series program, helping to coordinate sessions across the country with our corporate partners, and the administrative requirements at the national office. She also is part of the national headquarters team working on organizing, planning and executing Ascend's National Convention.

| Jacky Wong
Accounting Manager
jacky@ascendleadership.org | | | As the national accountant, Jacky is responsible for AR/AP, audit and other accounting cycle related tasks, state certifications filings, and works closely with the east coast chapters in putting events together. Before relocating to New York, he worked for a few start-ups companies in San Francisco and for an international publishing company, Financial Times. Jacky obtained his bachelors degree in Accountancy from San Francisco State University, and was an active member of local organizations including Ascend, ASO – Accounting Students Organization, and Beta Alpha Psi. Having lived in Hong Kong, San Francisco and New York, Jacky has a strong understanding of the business environment in these global cities. In addition, he speaks Cantonese and Mandarin fluently.
